I received a certificate of commendation by the Air Force Sergeant's Association for creating and drawing the cartoon strip for their quarterly newsletter. The strip was a three panel comic that dealt with issues related to life in the Air Force.
I was invited to submit ideas for consideration in the naming and logo designing of a large outdoor fun park. This park was built for kids by the community under the direction of Leather and Associates headed up by the grandson of Norman Rockwell. My entry name was Adventure Quest which was the name, along with a logo, that was chosen as the winning entry. Read story here.
Oklahoma City's largest rock radio station, KATT 100.5, held an annual calendar/poster contest. I won the second year I entered with a fun cartoon calendar design. My winning design was the stations most popular calendar ever and was sold in local Arby's resaurants. Two years later I placed third with a controversial design that contained several elements that were included in the winning design. The year after that I won again with a follow up design to my first winning calendar. As far as I know I was the only two time winner. The very next year, the contest was eliminated and has not been held since.
I had the privilege of having my entries chosen as the winning designs in two flag design contests. I am the designer of the Garfield County flag and insignia. I am also the designer of the Cherokee Strip Centennial flag.
While studying art and cartooning in college I placed third in a cartoon strip contest for the Oklahoma Blood Institute. My cartoon was showcased in an edition of the Institutes newsletter.
I was asked to sit on the media comittee for the Save Vance, AFB campaign. I was also asked to create the design that was used on all materials in the year long campaign.
I won first place in the KCRC radio logo design contest. My winning design was used for all promotional material for the radio station.
Several of my designs have been included in the Corel Draw coffee table book series. Only a limited number of top design entries are included in each book.
I have had cartoons published nationally including a cartoon in King Features New Breed. I also submit cartoons to the top magazines including Saturday Evening Post and the National Enquirer. My online single panel cartoon called "Curtoons" consistently ranks fifth or sixth on WebComics, even in reruns! My single panel cartoon runs on well over 30 humor and cartoon web sites worldwide. |
I
have been honored enough to have won this award more than once! It is
picked by a group of fellow professional cartoonists on the Wisen discussion
board. Cartoonists are free to enter their cartoons weekly and fellow
cartoonists judge the best. This
is a great award given by professional cartoonist, Bob Staake. Bob checked
out the digs around here and felt this was a way cool site. This award
is not given to just anyone. AstroNerdBoy
has a great collection of cartoonists links. He may have one of the
best selections online today. I am honored to have been considered a
COOL site. I take this and all of my awards very seriously.
One of my favorite awards. The Joke Fairy searches the Web for only
the best humor sites. An accomplished cartoonist, the Joke Fairy has
blessed this Web site and I appreciate it.Back to top |
